 Pakistan Bus Accident: Rescue teams took the dead and injured to a hospital nearby (Representational) Islamabad: At least 15 people were killed and more than 35 others injured when a speeding passenger bus fell into a ravine in Pakistan's Punjab province, the police said today. The accident occurred on a motorway in Pakistan's Attock district. The bus was traveling from Lahore in Pakistan's Punjab province to Mardan in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. According to the police, the bus driver lost control while trying to avoid an accident with another car. The rescue teams took the dead and injured to a hospital nearby, the police said. At least 15 people have died while over 35 people have been injured in the accident, the police said. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sayed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari expressed grief over the incident and directed the civil administration to provide assistance to the victims.  03

 TAXILA: Eleven passengers were killed and 35 others injured on Monday when a Mardan-bound bus carrying people looking forward to celebrating Eid in their hometowns and villages plunged into a ditch on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway near Burhan interchange. A woman and an infant were among the dead. Most of the dead hailed from Mardan and Swabi districts. According to motorway police, the bus coming from Lahore veered off the road when the driver lost control during an attempt to overtake a car. The bodies were removed to Hassan abdal’s Tehsil Headquarters Hospital while the injured were admitted to hospitals in Hassan abdal, Taxila, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Sixteen of the injured were in a critical condition. As soon as word got around about the accident, volunteers rushed to the hospitals and established blood donation camps.  PESHAWAR: Though Khyber Pakhtun khwa recorded 36 deaths from corona virus on Thursday, the Covid-19 positive level in Mardan came down to 14 per cent from 23.3 per cent in a day. On average, 35 people were killed by the virus and 1,000 people were infected with it in the province daily during the last one month, officials told Dawn. They said half of Covid-19 beds in the district headquarters hospital and Mardan Medical Complex were unoccupied, whereas 18 ventilators and 368 oxygen cylinders were unused which could be offered to patients if the need emerged. Dr Hamid Khan, who heads the district command and control room (Covid-19) at the Mardan DC office, said the positive rate had come down due to the patrolling of the Pakistan Army and police that ensured the enforcement of lock down.  MARDAN: Police arrested 24 people including a proclaimed offender and also recovered weapons in raids here on Saturday. A police spokesman said that on the directives of District Police Officer Dr Zahidullah Khan, the police raided several areas and recovered 1394 grams charas, 3 pistols, and bullets. Complete lockdown imposed in Mardan

PESHAWAR: The government imposed a week long complete lock down, except essential services, in Mardan district on Sunday as 31 more persons died including a doctor across the province with detection of 956 new cases of Covid-19. Due to rising positive rate in Mardan, the second most populous city in the province, a high level meeting at the divisional commissioner office decided to impose complete lock down. Officials said that eight more deaths were reported in Mardan during the last 24 hours with detection of 1,232 new cases of Covid-19. A notification was issued by Mardan deputy commissioner under section 8 and 21 of KP Epidemic Control and Emergency Relief Act, 2020 read with section 22 of National Disaster management Authority Act, banning entry of outsiders to the district without a genuine reason. The notification says that all commercial activities, markets and cattle fairs should remain closed in the district except some essential businesses including bakeries, grocery shops,
